Company Compliance
IST is, and will continue to be, sufficiently Year 2000 compliant such that its Customers and Suppliers will not notice any degradation, due to Year 2000 problems, in the level of service and other responses that they receive.
IST Product Compliance
There is nothing in X-Designer and Visaj or the associated files and programs which form part of an X-Designer and Visaj release that will be affected by the forthcoming change of the century.
The only place that the IST products, X-Designer and Visaj, are sensitive to the date, and hence to any possibility of problems with the year 2000, is in the licensing and authentication software they use. X-Designer uses Globetrotter's FLEXlm in most cases, but a few platforms use IST's own special license authentication software. Visaj uses IST's Navajo authentication software.
In all cases the date format uses a 4-digit year. Dates in the 20th century (19xx) can be abbreviated to the last 2 digits of the year (xx), and use of this feature is quite widespread. Dates in the year 2000 and beyond must specify all 4 year digits. The use of the year 00 means that the license is for an unlimited time and not that the license expires in the year 2000 (or 1900).
The above statement applies to all versions of Globetrotter's FLEXlm and IST's authentication software.
Warning: There is nothing in the standard widget set provided with X-Designer or in the standard JavaBean components provided with Visaj that would cause problems with year 2000 compliance. However, any third party components integrated with either product might render generated code non-compliant. For example, a DateField widget or bean might be non-compliant. This is not the responsibility of IST, and you should seek assurances from your third party component supplier.
