Derek Lambert, President and CEO
|
 |
Derek Lambert has more than 40 years' experience in the
computer industry, working in many areas of software and system design and implementation.
He has worked in engineering, marketing and senior management roles in both large and smaller
enterprises. Derek expanded IST's operations from its UK base to the US, creating an operation
in California in the heart of Silicon Valley and organized a management buy-out of
IST which was completed in 1997. Previously as Managing Director of Control-C Software, a
software company based in the UK and Portland, Oregon, Derek honed his understanding of
marketing to the US computer market. His previous career was spent largely in senior
technical management roles within the product development division of ICL, the UK's largest
computer company. Initially working on the development of software for mainframes,
he played significant roles in the personal computer, open systems and networking
revolutions in the computer industry. His industry career began in 1965 when he joined
NCR Corporation in London as a systems programmer.

Alan Sandell, Vice President of Operations

Alan Sandell has been with IST
for more than 20 years. Initially brought on to manage the computer services, Alan's talent
quickly made him an invaluable resource to IST. As Operations Director, a position he has
held for the last nine years, Alan manages IST's web presence, internal computer operations
and major day-to-day business functions. He previously worked with Plessey, Ltd. for 17 years
in a variety of software management positions relating to military and civilian air traffic
control systems. Alan holds a degree in mathematics from the University College of Wales at
Aberystwyth.

Andy Lovell, Director of Engineering

Andy Lovell has more than 30 years experience in the
computer industry. Prior to becoming Engineering Director Andy held several management roles at
IST and was Product Manager for X-Designer, the award winning Motif Graphical User Interface
builder. He previously worked in diverse sectors that span government, computer manufacturers,
the chemical industry and software R&D. Much of his earlier career was spent in developing
compilers for the high level languages Ada and CHILL, and developing integrated project
development environments. His earliest experiences were in programming real-time process
control systems. Andy holds a degree in Computer Science from Brunel University.

Elaine Baber, Finance Director

Elaine Baber has over 20 years experience in the
computer software industry. Elaine has worked in the technology sector for most of her career,
with small and medium UK enterprises, gaining international finance experience with the UK
arm of a large US software corporation. Elaine was appointed Finance Director of IST in 1999.
Elaine graduated from Brunel University in 1984 in Mathematics and Management and subsequently
qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in 1988.

Neil Smyth, Director of Business Development (USA)

Neil Smyth has over 20 years of experience in the
computer industry, mostly with small international software companies in customer-facing
technical and sales roles. While with a previous UK/US software enterprise, he worked in
South Africa setting up a collaborative venture with ICL South Africa. With IST, he led a
number of successful projects forging new industry partnerships and customer relationships,
particularly with the US defense industry. He has been managing IST's US presence for the last
four years, interfacing with IST's major collaborators in Silicon Valley and managing many
aspects of the business expansion in North America.
